Novocastrian Quilters Inc. was founded in 1984 and is an association for patchwork and quilting enthusiasts across the Greater Newcastle area. We celebrate the joy of making and sharing, bringing together members of all skill levels, interests, and abilities. Our members create quilts ranging from traditional to modern, using a wide array of techniques. | We host several meetings each month, scheduled at various times to suit different lifestyles. These are typically relaxed “sit and sew” gatherings, where members are welcome to work by hand or bring their machine. Throughout the year, we also organise challenges, workshops, outings, an annual Buy Swap and Sell, and—every second year—an exhibition that showcases the talent and creativity of our members. |
Member’s receive a vibrant monthly newsletter and can be involved in our member’s Facebook group. They also have access to our library of books and our Accuquilt fabric cutter. A cornerstone of our group is the Community Quilts program, through which our members create and donate quilts to local charities. In recent years, most of our community quilts have been gifted to the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at John Hunter Hospital, Kaleidoscope Kids, and Domestic Violence Services throughout the Hunter region. As proud members of QuiltNSW, we actively support its aims and initiatives. | ![]() |
